hi all,
just wanted to show you my nuby reverb box and how it looks at the moment.
at the moment it is just a simple reverb with a 3.5mm jack out, but i will be trying to cram in a 1/4″ jack as well, i also have to get some rub on lettering and mark the pannel
the red pot is the corse and the blue is the fine
Update: Right i have just updated the circuit for this and finally got a video done.
the new circuit

i had to make a change to face plate so i made a new one.

i needed to step down the 9v to a steady 5, so i used a gameboy regulator board, they are awesome!

i have a second input just as a through for the original audio jack, but this is not wired up yet as i don’t have a 3.5mm jack socket

the two pots and the 1/4 inch jack, i used stereo pots because they are actually cheaper

F**king awesome!!
thanks
Similar to the DMG accessory you used here, I recently saw one in a resale store. This particular accessory was something i had never seen before and was not for sale, becuase the owner had never found it online, so he couldn’t gauge a price.
Maybe you will know what it was. to begin with, it totally encapsulated the DMG, unlike the one above that just fits on the bottom. I believe it had a magnifying glass and some of those external speakers as well. When the DMG was inserted, the d-pad was moved with a joystick overtop and the A & B buttons had a sort of half circle over each of them, making a full circle. It was sort of a huge shell that propped up with some legs on the top-back, making the whole gameplay experience like a home console rather than a handheld.
Have you ever seen something like this? I bring it up, becuase the amount of empty space inside it, would make for super easy wiring and fitting of an arduino, cable ports, switches, pots and whatever else you could possibly imagine.
This same guy sold me 7 GreyBoys and 1 Black Play it Loud for 2 USD each, so I am sure I could get the accessory from him for pretty cheap too. I just need something to base a price off of. Throughout my childhood I somehow managed to get nearly every silly gimmick that came out for my GBs, but this one magically alluded me!
Thanks for the help, and sorry for the winded description.
PS: (Killer addition to your GB Camera!)
I actually managed to find it just after writing the above. Its called “Booster.”
This is what I found:

late reply because you already found it, i know exactly what you are talking about but i couldn’t remember the name but yea its the booster accessory. its not that common, but common enough that people have modded it. one person took the joystick and fitted it directly to the gameboy, it was a nice touch
well spotted you beat me to it
please where is the reverb circuit board? i’d love to try and make one as well… tho i wont use a Nuby, i’ll just make an external box.
look up the PT2399 datasheet, everything you need to know is in there
I’m curious about the power supply, would it be possible for you to tap into the Gameboys power for this mod? Just wondering if it’d be possible so that way you could free up the battery slot for other possible mods to fit into the case.
yea sure, the circuit runs on 5v so the gameboy power supply would be perfect, but then this adapter wouldn’t work on all gameboys, just a specially designed gameboy that also provides the power.
Cool, I was thinking of modding a Gameboy and Nuby as a set. When I looked up the PT2399 datasheet I didn’t see anything about the power usage, didn’t think it was much but always better to double check. You might like the style I’m going with, I’m calling it the Optimus Prime Boy. Paint is already planned out, just trying to get the Nuby peripheral. Will be a red/silver/blue color scheme, blue backlit screen with possible on/off switch, prosound through the Nuby with a 1/4″ jack, reverb similar to yours, and half/normal/double clock mod. I’m hoping kitsch will have that 3 in 1 easy clock kit out soon. Best thing is it should have plenty of space for anything else I plan to put in it later. Once I get the Nuby it will begin!
sounds awesome, do you have a build blog for it?
Sadly no, I have yet to make an account with 8bc. With finals and x-mas coming up I’ve been busy with other things. This is an idea I’ve had in my head for a few weeks now so I’m just mentally planning it out. The best thing I’ve found are the getlofi kits for the PT2399 and the LTC1799 oscillator for the clock. Both are really good as starting points. Any good blog sites other then 8bc you could recommend?
for blog sites you could choose Chipmusic.org or NoiseChannel.org as well
the getlofi kits are great, but the reverb circuit was a bit bad, he might have updated it since though.
GetLoFi said back in April that he was revising the circuit to make it more compatible with other things and recently told me he was revising the board so it may change in dimensions. Not sure the ETA on it though. What was bad with the circuit?
well thats good, the old design was very distorted, it was missing a few components so it almost sounded just like echoy static.
